Food, Fun, and Fantastic Music at Our Easter Holiday Clubs!

This Easter we held holiday clubs at St George’s VC Academy in Scarborough and Barwic Parade Community Primary in Selby. We are really grateful that both these clubs were supported by North Yorkshire’s Holiday Activities and Food programme.

Each day began with a delicious breakfast, including hot cross buns, crumpets, muffins, and lots of fresh fruit - which gave everyone a lot of energy for the day of activities! We were lucky to have sunshine on both days, giving us the chance to get outdoors and get moving.

At St George’s, we were fully booked! The day started with parachute games to help everyone get to know each other, followed by singing session where everyone brought their own expressions to the music. Over in Selby, the group learnt “Hakuna Matata” complete with lots of actions and laughing!

After a break outside with football, LEGO building, and even hula hooping — we welcomed Olivia, who led a Celtic music workshop. Each child had the chance to pluck a harp, which was older than everyone in the room combined!

After lunch and more outdoor games, it got noisy with a junk percussion workshop. From playing bins to tables, chairs, even some fruit got involved!

We finished the day with a informal performance for parents and carers, showcasing everything the children had learned. One parent shared: “I just wanted to say thanks for organising the music day on Tuesday. My son had an absolutely brilliant day!”

We believe every child should have access to the joy and benefits of music. That’s why we continue to offer inclusive, community-based music experiences across the region during school holidays.
