Musical Fun at Clifton Green Primary’s Half-Term Holiday Club
Children at Clifton Green Primary School in York had a fantastic time at our half-term holiday club, filled with food, fun and a lot of music!
The day began with energetic sea based warm-up games before starting to learn Wellerman. One participant said “I loved singing the Wellerman with my friends!”
Next, we welcomed Olivia, who gave us an insight into traditional Celtic music before introducing us to the lively song What Shall We Do with a Grumpy Sailor? The morning concluded with a traditional ceilidh dance, where everyone joined in with lots of enthusiasm.
After a delicious lunch provided by the wonderful school cooks, we set sail to the Caribbean sea, exploring rhythms on the Bamboo Tamboo. The group enjoyed experimenting with different beats and patterns.
The excitement continued with an inspiring talk from David and Mark about the upcoming Play the Organ Year, 2025 - making us want to explore more!
The day was a huge success, with feedback such as “I learnt that you can use your feet to play the beat!”. Everyone agreed that they wanted to do more music in the future!
Our Music Holiday Clubs offer free music sessions, breakfast, and lunch for all attendees. As part of our engagement programme we're committed to bringing music to all children through community experiences.
